The Day After Trans Pride Brighton

I’ve been downing Tramadol this morning after Trans Pride Brighton as if they were fucking Smarties due to the physical agony attending events such as Trans Pride Brighton & Pride in London has on disabled me, however the physical agony I now feel due to my exertions yesterday in attending TPB was worth it not only when it comes to the reward in being able to do my bit to champion the trans cause & to shout loudly & proudly trans is beautiful, but because this was the best TPB for me on a personal level specifically due to two fellow trans women I met

I want to give a special mention to both Patricia & Dee who I met at Trans Pride Brighton as they were both were really sweet by simply being welcoming of me, with being autistic & physically disabled I’ve often found it hard to socially connect with people at events such as TPB & often found people who I thought would be friendly towards me not actually being very welcoming of me at all, so yeah it meant a lot there were people at TPB wanting to know me & who I also discovered really value the stuff I write. Patricia is the chief organiser of the trans group I’ve more often than not marched with in the Pride London parade, though we’ve only recently become far more friendly to one another & I’ve discovered that despite various political differences Patricia is one of the sweetest trans women I’ve ever met, I also discovered that despite our political differences Patricia has been moved to tears by some of the articles I’ve written of late. Dee I met for the first time at TPB 2019, I actually thought she was going to ask for my autograph as she really did come over as something of a mega fan of my whole ‘don’t give a fuck’ style of writing, she was definitely expressing a great deal of praise about me as a writer to her friends, I’m seriously blown the fuck away because usually I’m met with quite a bit of indifference about the stuff I write even from those who claim they ‘care’ about me.

As lovely as it might have been for Trans Pride Brighton to facilitate my ego being massaged & thus helping to make this the best TPB on a personal level, of far more importance is that organisers are saying overall this is the best TPB there’s been so far, there definitely appeared to be more people participating in the TPB parade along the Brighton seafront & there definitely were more attendees both trans & cis at the park event & the park was chock full stalls more then there’s previously been giving out info on all kinds of trans related stuff.

Well I’m pleased to report this year’s Trans Pride Brighton there was no attempt by terfy transphobic bigoted motherfuckers to spoil the event with some disruptive stunt to push their odious agenda of transphobic hate, though the bigoted motherfuckers have been getting their panties in a bind online about Green Party MP & former party leader Caroline Lucas having attended TPB. Caroline Lucas was indeed in attendance at this year’s TPB & it’s not the first she’s attended because as being the local MP she also steadfastly supports greater equality & social-justice for trans people & reiterated this in the awesome speech she gave when addressing those of us who were about to participate in the TPB parade along Brighton’s promenade, I’d expect nothing from Caroline because I’ve long known she’s fucking awesome!

Maybe it’s time terfy transphobic bigoted motherfuckers twigged they’re very much on the wrong side of history as they’ve lost their culture war against the trans community which was always was fucking asinine in the first place, because it’s not just Caroline Lucas or Jeremy Corbyn & MPs on the left of the political spectrum who support trans people’s wish to live free as their true selves & to do so without harassment for being their true selves. Maybe terfy transphobic bigoted motherfuckers ought to do the decent thing & fuck off & literally choked on their sour grapes, certainly time they realised their political friends aren’t to be found on the radical-left but on the far-right, as TERFs obsessive hatred of trans people & in particular of trans women has a great deal in common with the far-right & their brand of bigoted hate.

One thing which I took away from this year’s Trans Pride Brighton which gave me hope for the future was when talking to younger trans & non binary activists whilst marching in the TPB parade who like myself fear the increasing rise of the far-right & thus are very much dedicated to campaigning against the threat the far-right pose, good news to hear the future generation of trans activists are taking the threat which the far-right pose far more seriously as it’s been my experience in the recent past that those Guardian reading middle-class trans women who’ve tended to steer the direction of the trans community have been far too complacent about the threat which the far-right pose & thus have never been that willing to do anything to effectively campaign against the far-right.

The growth of Trans Pride Brighton from where it started in back in 2013 to the size it is in 2019 has been an astonishing success & I’m proud to have been part of it’s success, long may TPB grow & have increasing success in being able to raise awareness of the trans cause & to champion trans is beautiful! As long as terfy transphobic bigots have influence in the mainstream media, so long as the mainstream media continues to attack the trans community, so long as there are increasing physical assaults motivated by transphobic hate, so long as trans people aren’t receiving adequate healthcare, so long as the far-right pose a threat to there being diversity & tolerance of diversity, there will be a need for TPB.

Not Sure What Other Trans People Are Planning To Do This Weekend But I’m Heading For Trans Pride Brighton

I can take it to my grave that back in 2013 I was at the inaugural Trans Pride Brighton where there was less then 10 of us on the parade through the streets of Brighton & a half empty park sparsely filled with stalls, five years on & last year Trans Pride Brighton had grown into the biggest trans orientated Pride event in Europe with near on 10,000 participating in the parade along Brighton’s promenade & a park full to capacity which was chock full of stalls championing the trans cause. There’s most definitely been rapid growth (& then some) with Trans Pride Brighton & I’m proud to have been year on year part of TPB’s rapid development, so this coming Saturday I’m planning to again be proudly part of TPB & I encourage all trans comrades if able to also make an effort in attending because trans visibility is such a crucial facet to our success.

Yours truly along with other trans comrades at the very first Trans Pride Brighton back in 2013

Sarah Savage & Fox Fisher & everybody else who got the ball rolling with Trans Pride Brighton & who continue to invest their energy in keeping TPB going should be commended for their efforts, having the foresight to make TPB happen in the first place & subsequently seeing an explosive growth in the event has had over the past 6 years has proven that for trans people our time is now! But despite there seeming to be far more support & acceptance of trans people here in the UK, despite the trans community getting far more attention than it ever has previously & despite the trans community having far more of an impact on wider society then it’s ever had, despite it all adding up to appearing that our time is now, we still very much need an event such as Trans Pride Brighton to have continued growth & success because there’s still much work to be done to seriously improve the plight of many trans people. There’s still much work to be done regards raising awareness of the specific issues all us trans people face on a daily basis & how best to address such issues, we are still faced with unacceptable amounts of discrimination as well as out & out transphobic hate reports of which seem to sadly be on the increase, there are still extremist transphobic bigots who’ve not grasped they’ve lost the culture war & have far too much influence, oh & then there’s Boris Johnson becoming the UK’s next Prime Minister which won’t necessarily mean he’ll be full on Donald Trump in attitude towards trans people but I do think a Tory government under Boris will lurch towards the hard-right thus possibly not be as pro trans nor pro LGBTQ as they have recently been, so having as massive of an event as Trans Brighton can get is important as it helps to draw more attention to all of what I’ve detailed plus much more & the more the numbers of attendees are bolstered by trans people the better.

Trans Pride 2014

It’s not just the more trans people who attend Trans Pride Brighton the more its going to help attract attention from the mainstream news media thus helping to increase trans awareness, it’s also about a show of force as in a positive show of force with strength in numbers against those who would like nothing better then to wipe us from the face of the earth. Remember I previously mentioned there were extremist transphobic bigots who hadn’t grasped they’ve lost the culture war, well last year these terfy motherfuckers disrupted Pride in London to protest trans inclusion, then attempted to gain entry to last year’s TPB event to push their odiously hateful agenda but ended up with a small number of them hurling abuse from a distance as we paraded along the seafront in Brighton which was met with several thousand of us giving them the wanker sign. Because I doubt any these bigoted motherfuckers have fucked off to choke on their sour grapes having finally grasped they’ve lost the culture war, they might very well attempt to disrupt this year’s TPB event & its perfectly understandable why the prospect of transphobic bigots possibly disrupting TPB which might put off some trans people from attending, but I’d point out scaring trans people away from attending TPB is exactly what transphobic bigots want to do & major means by which we will defeat these bigoted bullies is to show we are not fucking scared of them with a show of strength in numbers, this is why I’ve long said the more trans visibility is a crucial plank to our success as the more trans visibility there is then the less we will eventually be bullied for simply being our true selves as it illustrates the bullies can’t win.

I might not always feel welcome at TPB when it comes to the whole social-networking stuff, always feel somewhat left out in cold with people & their particular circle of friends at Trans Pride Brighton, but I always try to remember the bigger picture there is with TPB & by helping to further the trans cause with my attendance.
