I recently received this bullshit disabilist tweet from somebody who’s quite obviously a Tory troll.

Yes of course I must be lying my fucking arse off about being disabled because I’m not dribbling whilst sat in a wheelchair 100% of the time unable to comprehend the world. I can most definitely testify from personal experience as disabled person that the disablist attitude exhibited by this Tory troll is sadly pretty prevalent amongst the general populous, people really do seem to think that unless you’re not visibly sat in a wheelchair 100% of the time then your bullshitting the world about being disabled. What’s particularly irksome isn’t just that many people can’t grasp not all disabilities are visible & that those disabilities which are invisible are often the most debilitating of disabilities, it’s the contradictory bullshit of accusing disabled people of using whatever disabilities they suffer from as an excuse in not making enough effort to do whatever but then accusing disabled people of lying about being disabled when they do make an effort to do whatever, in other words when I do make effort to get out & about to do whatever despite being disabled I’m accused of lying about being disabled yet if I didn’t make an effort to get out & about to do whatever because of being disabled I’m then accused of using my disabilities as an excuse to be lazy, seems to me cynicism has replaced compassion regards the general attitude of people in this country towards disabled people.
For the record I suffer from multiple disabilities (not all of which are visible) including physical disabilities effecting my mobility, for the record whenever I have attended any protest or parade in London I’ve more often then not been laid up unable to walk for more then day afterwards, but it’s not just the next few days I’m going to be laid up unable to walk as a consequence of having attended yesterday’s Anti-Trump demo in London but I’m going to be immobile for the entirety of Christmas due to having tripped & fallen & in process knackering my right knee as well as spraining my left ankle.

When I tripped & fell as the anti-Trump demo was setting off from Trafalgar Square to march on Buckingham Palace where Queen Lizzy was hosting a reception for Donald Trump & other NATO leaders, it wasn’t the pain from having tripped & fallen in the manner I did that had me in floods of tears, but the police & stewards who’d gathered round me to see if I was okay misgendering me as ‘he’, which was kind of frigging ironic as I was attending this Anti-Trump demo to represent trans people as Indeed I have when I’ve attended all the other Anti-Trump demos I’ve managed to attend over the past couple of years.
With yesterday’s Anti Trump demo there were activists giving speeches about all usual leftwing concerns you’d expect activists to be making speeches about at an Anti-Trump demonstration, justice for Palestinians, fuck off NATO, Trump is a racist & Islamophobe & a misogynist, all which being a redder then red socialist I of course agree with, but there wasn’t one LGBTQ activist or more specifically trans activist speaking from the platform yesterday thus no mention of Trump’s rabid transphobia despite it being more then fucking evident that from the moment he took office his administration has been waging a war against trans people. Though Paris Lees did get to speak at a previous Anti-Trump demo back in the summer of 2018 which was attended by 300,000 people (me included) usually there’s been an absence of trans or even LGBTQ speakers at the Anti-Trump demos there have been & generally when it comes to antifascist demonstrations. Don’t the Stop The War Coalition or Unite Against Fascism or the Socialist Workers Party or whichever leftwing activist group who’ve been organising Anti-Trump & antifascist demos not know Trump is being a colossal cunt towards trans people, do they not think the rise is the far-right isn’t an increasing threat to LGBTQ people & specifically trans people?

It’s because of the lack of LGBTQ representation & specifically the lack of trans representation there has been from platform at Anti-Trump & antifascist protests which is exactly the reason why I attend these kind of protests waving a Trans Pride flag like a motherfucker & why there needs to be far more trans visibility amongst the demonstrators at these sort of protests as a reminder trans people are very much threatened by the rise of the far-right in fact more so then any other section of the LGBTQ community. Some might pooh-pooh my personal efforts to increase trans visibility in the fight against fascism making bollock all difference, however to my surprise a trans friend who ‘s a working-class Tory actually applauded me for my efforts in trying to increase trans visibility when it comes to demonstrating against Trump. It’s certainly not a good thing to have busted my knee thanks to Donald Trump being a fascist fuck, but having a Tory of all people appreciate me for the effort I’ve made in trying raise trans visibility when it comes to protesting Trump well that actually means a great deal to me & goes a long way to making up for the physical agony I’m having to endure this festive season.
