The Dance Of Denial & Deflection

In the wake of the mass shootings in El Paso & Dayton this past weekend, for President Trump to be blaming videogames for the reason there are mass shootings the United States is just symptomatic of the dance of denial & deflection there is about the route cause as to why there are mass shootings happening in the United States at the frighteningly regularity they seem to be happening these days.

Donald Trump dancing the dance of denial & deflection in blaming videogames for mass shootings in the United States

Nothing new for politicians on the right of the political spectrum in the United States to be blaming metal music or videogames as a means of denial & deflection as to why mass shootings are such a frequent occurrence in the United States. Hey if Donald Trump or any other rightwing politician in the United States are going to blame Marilyn Manson & Grand Theft Auto for mass shootings being such a frequent occurrence in the United States, fuck it why not blame the fucking Teletubbies because aren’t there nutty rightwing Christian fundamentalists who reckon the Teletubbies are a satanic influence on the young & because it’s just as a ludicrous means of bullshit denial & deflection to blame the Teletubbies as it is to blame Marilyn Manson & Grand Theft Auto as to why there are mass shootings. The reason I know it’s just ludicrous bullshit with no foundation what so fucking ever for political right in the United States to be blaming either the likes of Marilyn Manson for mass shootings as has happened in the past particularly with the Columbine High School massacre or now with the blame being put on videogames for mass shootings becoming such a far more regular horrific occurrence in the United States, is due to the fact that here in the UK plenty of people listen to Marilyn Manson & metal music as well as play videogames such as Grand Theft Auto or Doom or Mortal Kombat yet we very rarely have mass shootings on the scale there are mass shootings in the United States, hmm I wonder why the fuck that it is, nah it couldn’t be because we have extremely strict gun control laws.

Oh how fucking dare I imply the root cause for mass shootings happening at such a frightening frequency in the United States be lax gun control laws enabling emotionally unstable individuals with grievances to have easy access to firearms, how dare I blaspheme against the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution ‘the right to bear arms’ the most holy of holy amendments of the US Constitution & not blame Heavy Metal & videogames or anything which doesn’t fit in with a bigoted conservative waspy perspective of how America ought to be despite the fact that First Amendment of the US Constitution is meant to guarantee the US government make no law to abridge freedom of speech & so shouldn’t those conservatives who say they are strict constitutionalists be just as fastidious in defending free speech & free expression you know defending heavy metal musicians & videogame creators as they in using the Second Amendment in preventing the US Congress or state legislators enacting gun control laws no matter how common sense those gun control laws happen to be.

Donald Trump blaming videogames for mass shootings was kind of reminiscent to me of when the Chief Executive of the National Rifle Association Wayne LaPierre held a press conference in the aftermath of the Sandy Hook massacre in 2012 blaming videogames pretty much in the same manner for Sandy Hook & other mass shootings, as I said above nothing new in conservative nutcases blaming videogames for mass shootings in the United States. Yet again bollocks that videogames are to blame for mass shootings & maybe what’s more to blame are Wayne LaPierre & the National Rifle Association lobbying politicians to prevent the introduction of background checks on anybody buying a firearm particularly an assault weapon, you know a common sense approach to gun control preventing criminals & the mentally ill getting hold of firearms. The NRA receive millions of dollars in donations annually from the small arms industry to payoff politicians to exploit the Second Amendment in a manner which the Founding Fathers never envisaged the Second Amendment to be used, because there’s an awful lot of profit to be made from people killing each other with guns. What’s the most common reason given not just by gunsexual rednecks in the flyover states to own an assault weapon other it being constitutional right for US citizens to do so etc, it’s because they need it for self-protection because some other fucker also has an assault weapon & you never know what their intent is for owning it, it’s this kind of bullshit paranoia which is a self-fulfilling prophecy & of course is good for business when it comes the firearms industry.

the pro gun lobby are far to blame for mass shootings in the United States then any videogame

The original intent of the Founding fathers writing the Second Amendment into the US Constitution was the United States didn’t have a standing army when it was a newly established nation after the War of Independence with the British & there was a real threat of British troops returning to reclaim the United States a British colony which a few years later British troops did in fact attempt to do & in the process burnt down the White House to the ground, but what was applicable in the late 18th century ain’t applicable or relevant in the early 21st century & certainly shouldn’t be exploited to bolster the profits of the firearms industry because that definitely wasn’t the original intent of the Founding Fathers in writing the Second Amendment, definitely not have it exploited for profit by the firearms industry at the cost of thousands of innocent people being killed annually in the United States due to firearms.

Not just political lefties who advocate for far greater gun control such as myself who are saying of the Second Amendment what was applicable in the late 18th century ain’t applicable or relevant in the early 21st century, a friend of mine who’s a conservative-libertarian & somebody who’s a political pundit on US talk radio told me today what was applicable then isn’t applicable now in regards the Second Amendment & said it’s the exploitation of Second Amendment by the firearms industry that is consequentially enabling criminals or the mentally ill easy access to firearms & surprised me by then saying background checks on people buying a gun wouldn’t be such a bad idea, yeah something of surprise considering conservative-libertarians are known to be the most gun polishing ardent supporters of right to bear arms as if the Second Amendment was written in stone, in fact they told me the Second Amendment isn’t carved in stone & could be you know amended if there was a will to do so & that there should be a will to do so.

If one conservative-libertarian can start to twig that lax gun control laws are the root cause for the frightening frequency of mass shootings in the United States I’d say there’s hope that attitudes on the right of the political spectrum in the US might be changing, in actual fact of polling on the issue of gun control has shown that the majority of US voters (including a majority of GOP voters) are in favour of greater gun control, but in the immediate nothing will be done when it comes to any common sense approach to gun control in the United States in the wake of the mass shootings in El Paso or Dayton, just as there was fuck all action taken on gun control after Sandy Hook, Parkland, Orlando or any other place name now synonymous with the infamy of a mass shooting, Yeah no matter the shock & outcry there is the aftermath of any mass shooting in the United States, despite polling showing the vast majority of US citizens are in favour of there being greater gun control, politicians take no action rather they continue with the dance of denial & deflection as the root cause of mass shootings because for the politicians & the lobbyists & the arms industry there’s just way too much money to be made from gun deaths.
